2017 Athlon Kickboxing Challenge To Take Place During TheFitExpo Ft. Lauderdale!

CHICAGO – The World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) is pleased to announce that the 2017 WAKO K1 Championships, promoted by Athlon Rub, will take place during TheFitExpo Ft. Lauderdale from October 21-22, 2017 at the Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The Kickboxing Challenge will be hosting two rule styles, K1 and Low Kick, sanctioned by WAKO Team USA Kickboxing.  This is the second consecutive year for the Athlon KickBoxing Challenge.

TheFitExpo is the largest of Consumers Fitness Expos on the West Coast and is now coming to sunny South Florida. Each year the number of participants grow in attendance. Tens of Thousands of fitness enthusiasts attend the celebration in search of learning new techniques and finding new motivation to continue their fit lifestyle. Headlining TheFitExpo Ft. Lauderdale will be many celebrities from different sports / disciplines. 

WAKO Team USA Kickboxing recently returned home from the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland. Team USA faced the toughest and most skilled kickboxers in world. After competing in the 2016 Pan American Championships, four athletes: Ashley Acord, Kaitlin Young, Omari Boyd, and Jerome Ward, advanced to compete in the 2017 World Games. This was the first time kickboxing was ever in the world games – a truly historic event. Omari Boyd, competing at -81kg, brought home a bronze medal for Team USA.

The World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) is the largest international organization of kickboxing in the world, and the governing body of amateur kickboxing certified by SportAccord. It is formed of two organizations: WAKO for amateur sports and WAKO PRO for professional sports. In addition to producing world championship competitions, WAKO sanctions the champions of kickboxing in seven rule styles. As a tax-exempt, 501(C)(3), nonprofit organization, WAKO Team USA Kickboxing is the only recognized governing body representing the United States in the 2017 World Games.
